Types of Christmas Trees Available
Fraser Fir
The Fraser Fir is native to the Appalachian Mountain region. This short-needled tree has a pleasant fragrance but not as intense as the Balsam fir. Strong branches with a silvery underside, along with excellent needle retention, have made this Christmas tree a top-seller in the market.
Balsam Fir
The Balsam Fir is a native of Wisconsin. It is considered a short-needled tree with superb fragrance. The aroma from the Balsam fir that fills your home throughout the holiday season is one of the main selling points of the tree. If kept well-watered, needle retention is excellent.
White Pine
The White Pine is native to Wisconsin and is considered a long-needled tree with soft needles as long as five inches. This tree offers a slight yet pleasant fragrance. Small ornaments, lights and garland are the preferred decorations for this tree, as the branches are very flexible and do not easily withstand heavy ornaments.
Canaan Fir
The Canaan Fir is native to Virginia and West Virginia. It is unique in that it shares the best characteristics of the Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir. The needles are soft, short, and rounded with dark green topside and a silver underneath with sturdy branches. The Canaan Fir has great needle retention and fragrance.
Benefits of a Real Christmas Tree
Each holiday season, shoppers find themselves confronted with a choice: celebrate with a fresh, real tree, or one that is artificial and made from plastic or aluminum. What most people don’t realize is that the best choice has always been the traditional and natural choice, a real Wisconsin grown Christmas Tree.
While they’re growing, real Christmas trees support life by absorbing carbon dioxide and other gases and emitting fresh oxygen. Christmas tree farms, such as your local Enchanted Valley Acres tree farm, stabilize soil, protect water supplies and provide refuge for wildlife while creating scenic green belts.
Real Christmas trees are grown on farms just like any other crop. To ensure a constant supply, Christmas tree growers plant one to three new seedlings for every tree they harvest. On the other hand, artificial trees are a petroleum-based product manufactured primarily in Chinese factories. The average family uses an artificial tree for only six to nine years before throwing it away, where it will remain in a landfill for centuries after disposal.
Real Christmas trees are biodegradable, which means they can be easily reused or recycled for mulch and other purposes.
Christmas Trees are often grown on soil that does not support other crops.
Is there an admission fee for the Christmas Season when I come to purchase a tree?
No. Visiting Enchanted Valley Acres during the Christmas Season is FREE when making purchases (trees, wreaths, etc.)
Is the activity area open if we just want to come do activities or go for a wagon ride?
No. Our activity area is closed to the general public unless purchasing trees, wreaths or other items. We store many of our activities in the winter season, so activities are VERY limited. Wagon rides are not always available (based on location for where we are sending customers to cut trees, weather, etc.) Wagon rides are for the purpose of transporting people to cut and bring back their trees only. Those purchasing trees, wreaths, or other items, can partake in the limited activities after they have completed their purchase.
Do you offer choose and cut and pre-cut trees?
Yes, we offer both.
How far do we need to walk to cut our own?
Less than 50 yards up to 1/4 of a mile
How do we get the tree back after we cut it?
There are 2 main areas we have trees and depending on when they were planted and then ready for cutting, both areas may not be available for cutting from. First location is the valley and we provide cars or tarps for you to use to place your tree on and bring back or just drag your tree. Second location is the hill, and if we are cutting from this area, we provide a wagon ride up to the top. Your tree will be placed on the trailer and brought down with you. Note: Wagon rides are reserved for those going to cut down a tree and again may not be available if trees are ready to be cut from the valley.
Are hand saws provided?
